1) Rishi Sunak to become the first Indian-origin PM of Britain
- Former British Finance Minister Rishi Sunak is set to become Britain’s next Prime Minister after Penny Mordaunt dropped out of the Conservative party leadership race.
- 42-year-old Sunak will become the first British Prime Minister of Indian origin.
- Sunak becomes Britain’s third Prime Minister in less than two months after Boris Johnson and Liz Truss resigned from their posts.
2) Indian & US militaries conduct ‘Tiger Triumph’ exercise
- The Indian and US militaries carried out a three-day joint humanitarian assistance exercise ‘Tiger Triumph’ in Visakhapatnam.
- It concluded on 20th Oct 2022.
- This exercise was the second collaboration between the Indian and US militaries to coordinate disaster relief in the region.
- The first exercise, also in Visakhapatnam, took place over the course of nine days in November 2019.
3) Aman Sehrawat: 1st Indian to win gold medal at U-23 Wrestling C’ships
- The 16-year-old Aman Sehrawat on 22nd Oct 2022 became the first-ever Indian wrestler to win a gold medal at U-23 World Wrestling Championships in Spain’s Pontevedra.
- India finished with 6 medals (1 gold, 1 silver & 4 bronze) at the U-23 World Wrestling Championships 2022.
- Earlier, Sajan Bhanwala became the 1st Greco-Roman wrestler from India to win a medal (bronze) at the U23 championships.
4) Satyajit Ray’s ‘Pather Panchali’ declared best Indian film by FIPRESCI
- Legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s film “Pather Panchali” has been declared the best Indian film of all time by International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI).
- It has received the number one slot in the top ten films in the history of Indian cinema list, which was declared after a poll conducted by the India chapter of FIPRESCI.
- This film was release in 1955.
5) 7th National Ayurveda Day: 23rd October 2022
- National Ayurveda Day is observed on the occasion of Dhanwantari Jayanti (Dhanteras) every year since 2016.
- The 7th National Ayurveda day was celebrated on 23rd Oct 2022.
- The aim of the day is to raise awareness about the value of Ayurveda in improving health and daily life.
- The Ministry of AYUSH celebrates Ayurveda Day every year.

6) Max Verstappen wins the 2022 United States F1 Grand Prix
- Red Bull’s Max Verstappen on 24th Oct 2022 won the United States Formula1 Grand Prix.
- Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc came at the second and third positions respectively.
- It was Verstappen’s 75th podium finish & 33rd race win of his career.
- Verstappen has won 13 races in the 2022 season.
- He had also won the Japanese Grand Prix on 9th Oct 2022.
7) Know About: Financial Action Task Force (FATF)
- The FATF is an intergovernmental organisation founded in 1989 on the initiative of the G7 to develop policies to combat money laundering & terrorism financing.
- FATF has 2 types of lists: blacklist & greylist.
- The grey list comprises countries considered safe havens for supporting terror funding & money laundering.
- Countries known as Non-Cooperative Countries are put on the blacklist.
8) Know About: Satyajit Ray
- Satyajit Ray was an Indian director, screenwriter & documentary filmmaker.
- One of the greatest auteurs of film-making, Ray is known for works including The Apu Trilogy (1955-1959) and Charulata (1964).
- Ray directed 36 films & his first film Pather Panchali (1955) won 11 international prizes.
- He received 36 Indian National Film Awards and an Academy Honorary Award & Bharat Ratna (1992).
9) Air quality level in Delhi recorded in ‘Very Poor’ category
- The air quality level in Delhi was recorded in the ‘Very Poor’ category in October 2022.
- According to Central Pollution Control Board, the Air Quality Index stood at 326.
- An AQI between 0 to 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, and 201 to 300 is considered ‘poor!
10) SJVN announces commissioning of 75 MW Solar Power Projects in UP
- Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) has announced the commissioning of 75 MW Solar Power Projects in Parasan Solar Park, located at Tehsil Kalpi of Uttar Pradesh.
- It will be commissioned by the end of Oct 2022.
- The project will generate 168.34 MU in the first year and the estimated cumulative energy generation over a period of 25 years will be 3919 MU.

12) Cyclone Sitrang to trigger rainfall in Northeast, West Bengal
- Cyclone ‘Sitrang’ lay centered about 230 km of Sagar Island in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district, and made a landfall on Bangladesh coast.
- It has been named by Thailand.
- The latest cyclonic storm has already battered several coastal regions of Bengal, and even brought downpour in Assam.
- Many districts in Odisha, Bengal and the northeastern states have been put on alert.
13) India included in 12 top chess-playing nations
- In Chess, teams from 12 top chess-playing nations including India, China, United States, and the Netherlands have been included in the lineup for the 2022 Men’s World Team Chess Championship in Jerusalem, Israel in November 2022.
- After five rounds, the first four teams in each pool will advance to the quarterfinals.
- The final match will be played on November 25 2022.
14) Tata Steel’s Dutch arm signs MOU to supply Ford with green steel
- Tata Steel’s Dutch arm plans to supply Ford plants in Europe with “green” steel after 2030, under a preliminary agreement reached by the two companies on 24 Oct’22.
- Tata will start producing green steel – or steel made without using fossil fuels – in 2030 at its plant in Ijmuiden, Netherlands.
- Ford has also signed supply MOUS with Tata, ThyssenKrupp and Salzgitter to supply low carbon steel.
15) Jakson Green to invest 22,400 crore for green project in Rajasthan
- Energy and infrastructure company Jakson Group has signed a pact with the Rajasthan government.
- It will set up a green hydrogen and green ammonia project in the state at an investment of 22,400 crores.
- It will set up a 3,65,000 tons per annum green hydrogen and green ammonia plant along with an integrated hybrid renewable power complex in phases.
16) ‘Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa’
- Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan participated at the opening session of ‘Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa’ in Senegal in October 2022.
- The event was inaugurated by President of Senegal, Macky Sall in Dakar.
- This is the first time that India is participating in the forum at a Ministerial level.
17) India wins Silver medal in Women’s 25m Pistol Team event
- In shooting, India won Silver medal in the Women’s 25m Pistol Team event and Bronze medal in Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions (3P) at the ISSF World Championship in Cairo, Egypt on 23 October 2022.
- With this win, India ended their Paris 2024 Olympics quota quest at two from the championship.
- Their tally now stands at 12 gold, nine silver, and 13 bronze medals.
18) Swapnil Kusale wins India’s 3rd Paris 2024 Olympics quota
- Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale won India’s third Paris 2024 Olympics quota place at the ongoing ISSF World Championship in Cairo, Egypt on 22 October 2022
- It was Kusale’s fourth-place finish in the men’s 50 meter rifle 3 positions event.
- India’s first Paris quota in shooting was won by Bhowneesh Mendiratta in the men’s trap event at the Shotgun World Championship in Osijek, Croatia.
