1) Over one crore children between the age group of 12 to 14 years have received their first dose of COVID Vaccine. Health Minister Mansukh mandviya congratulates all the young warriors who got vaccinated.

 

2) Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar  informed the Lok Sabha that a total of 9.11 crore vaccine doses are administered to the age group of 15 to 18 years.

 

3) President Ram Nath Kovind will visit be on a two day visit to Uttarakhand from today (26 Mar). On the 27th of March, the President will address the concluding ceremony of the silver jubilee celebrations of Divya Prem Seva Mission in Haridwar.

 

4) The ten-day mega Red Fort Festival – Bharat Bhagya Vidhata, kick started from 25 Mar at Red Fort in Delhi.  Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani inaugurated the festival.

 

5) Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav informed that October 5th has been designated as National Dolphin Day to be celebrated every year to create awareness for conservation of Dolphins. In a tweet, Mr Yadav stated that generating awareness and community participation is integral for conservation of the indicator species.

 

6) TELANGANA : Civil Aviation Minister Jyothiraditya Scindia inaugurates Wings India exhibition at Begumpet airport in Hyderabad.

8) WEST BENGAL :  Calcutta High Court  has ordered a CBI probe and has also sought a status report from the central probe agency regarding West Bengal’s Birbhum violence case. Eight people, including two children, were charred to death in the village Bogtui at Rampurhat district just hours after the murder of TMC panchayat leader on 21 Mar.

 

9) Finance Bill, 2022 passed in Lok Sabha : The Lok Sabha on 25 Mar passed the Finance Bill, 2022, completing the Budgetary exercise for the financial year 2022-23. The Bill was approved by Lower House after accepting 39 official amendments moved by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The Bill proposed introduction of a new section to tax virtual digital assets (VDAs) and retrospective disallowance of deduction for surcharge or cess.

 

10) Zoji la Pass has been opened for civilian traffic: Defence Ministry says in a release that the first civilian convoy comprising 560 vehicles carrying fresh supplies, medicines and other essential items and passenger vehicles crossed over to Ladakh from Sonamarg.

 

11) Ministry of Defence has signed a contract on March 25, with Larsen & Toubro Ltd. for acquisition of Two Multi-Purpose Vessels (MPVs) for Indian Navy at an overall cost of Rs. 887 Crore under “Buy-Indian” Category. The contract was signed in the presence of VAdm SN Ghormade, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff and Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Additional Secretary & Director General Acquisition. Delivery of vessels is scheduled to commence from May 2025.

 

12) What is operation AAHT?

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) recently launched a nationwide operation to combat human trafficking. Special teams will be deployed on all long-distance trains/routes as part of “Operation AAHT,” with an emphasis on rescuing victims, particularly women and children, from the clutches of the traffickers

 

13) On 22nd March 2022, a joint exercise between the Indian Army’s Agnibaaz Division and the Maharashtra Police named Exercise Suraksha Kavach 2 was organized at Lullanagar, Pune.

India Army’s Counter Terrorism Task Force (CTTF), Maharashtra Police’s Anti-Terrorism Squad along with Dog Squads, Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs), and Bomb Disposal Teams of the army, as well as the police, took part in this exercise.

 

14) The 9th Joint Military Exercise LAMITIYE-2022 between the Indian Army and Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) is being conducted at Seychelles Defence Academy (SDA), Seychelles from 22 March to 31 March 22.

Exercise LAMITIYE is a biennial training event, been conducted in Seychelles since 2001. The objective of this joint training exercise is to build and promote bilateral military relations, sharing experiences gained during various operations; exchanging skills and good practices between both armies.

 

15) Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur will be on a three-day official visit to Dubai from today (26 Mar).  During the visit, the minister will attend CEO roundtable with leading personalities of the cinema exhibition and television world. He will also visit the India Pavilion at the Dubai Expo where Media and Entertainment Week has been going on throughout the week.

 

16) President Ram Nath Kovind awarded the prestigious President’s Colour to Indian Naval Ship- INS) Valsura in Jamnagar- Gujarat this morning. The President’s Colour is bestowed on a military unit in recognition of exceptional service rendered to the nation, both in peace and in war.

 

17) Sri Lankan Navy has arrested 16 Indian fishermen from Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu. They set sail for fishing from Mandapam and Rameswaram on Wednesday and were apprehended by the naval personnel on charges of trespassing into the Lankan territorial waters. Their two boats have also been seized.

 

BORN TODAY

Bimala Prasad Chaliha (26 March 1912 – 25 February 1971) was a Leader of Indian National Congress and a freedom fighter who was put behind bar in the Jorhat Jail in 1942 for active participation in Mahatma Gandhi’s call of Quit India to the British Govt.

He was elected to the post of Chief Minister for three five years terms of Assam State, once from Badarpur Constituency and twice from Sonari Constituency.  He was in office from 28 December 1957 to 6 November 1970. He was awarded Padma Vibhushan in 1971.
