1) UP launched ‘Hot Cooked Meal Scheme’ for children at Anganwadi centers

  • CM Yogi Adityanath has launched the ‘Hot Cooked Meal Scheme’in Uttar Pradesh, providing nutritious meals to children aged 3 to 6 years at Anganwadis.
  • The initiative aims to provide 70 grams of food grains per beneficiary per day in the form of hot-cooked meals.
  • He also laid the foundation stone for 3,401 Anganwadi centers.
  • He stated that the initiative would benefit 80 lakh children.

 

2) India becomes Chair of International Sugar Organisation

  • In its 63rd council meeting, International Sugar Organisation, headquartered in London, has announced India to be the Chair of the organisation for 2024.
  • India has been the largest consumer and second largest producer of sugar in the world.
  • With about 15% share in global sugar consumption and about 20% production of sugar, Indian sugar trends affects the global markets profusely.

 

3) Vijayawada Railway Station gets Platinum Certification from IGBC

  • Vijayawada Railway Station has been given Platinum Certification- The Highest Standard IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) Rating.
  • The title was conferred to Vijayawada Railway Station chiefs at Green Building Congress held at Chennai Trade Centre.
  • Senior officers of the Railways received the certification for Vijayawada Railway Station.

 

4) UGC advised colleges to celebrate Constitution Day on November 26th

  • UGC has suggested the colleges and universities to organise activities including talks and webinars on Constitutional values and fundamentals of the Indian Constitution.
  • UGC urged the students to visit the My Gov portal and read the Preamble online.
  • Constitution Day or Samvidhan Divas is celebrated in India on November 26 every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.

 

5) Robert Shetkintong appointed High Commissioner of India to Mozambique

  • The Ministry of External Affairs said in an official statement, Robert Shetkintong, has been appointed as the High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Mozambique.
  • He is a 2001 batch IFS officer.
  • He is currently serving as the Ambassador of India to Ethiopia since 2020.
  • He is expected to take up the assignment very soon.

 

6) National Milk Day 2023: 26th November

  • Every year, National Milk Day is celebrated on November 26.
  • This year, the special day falls on Sunday.
  • National Milk Day commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the architect of India’s White Revolution.
  • Dr Kurien also spearheaded the White Revolution which changed the milk landscape all together.
  • It was done through Operation Flood in three phases.

 

7) Production of four generic cost-effective medicines begins in India

  • The Union Health Ministry said the production of four generic cost-effective medicines has begun in the country to bring down the exorbitant cost and provide relief to patients with rare diseases.
  • These drugs are now available in the market for the treatment of four types of rare diseases which are Tyrosinemia Type 1Gaucher’s DiseaseWilson’s Diseaseand Dravet-Lennox Gastaut Syndrome.

 

8) Ishwar Sharma won Gold medal at European Yoga Sports Championship

  • A 13-year-old Indian-origin Yoga prodigy from south-east England with several awards under his belt has added another Gold Medal to his tally at theEuropean Yoga Sports Championship in
  • Ishwar Sharma is from Sevenoaks in Kent, U.K.
  • He started taking up Yoga when he was three years old after seeing his father practise daily and went on to win several World Yoga Championships.

 

9) APEDA exports Cashew on National Cashew Day to Bangladesh, US, Qatar

  • The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Development Authority has flagged off its Cashew Nut shipment to Bangladesh, Qatar, Malaysia and the USA to mark National Cashew Day on November 23rd, 2023.
  • APEDA is an organization under the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.
  • Bangladesh will be receiving it’s first-ever shipment of Cashew Nuts all the way from Odisha.

 

10) NHPC conferred with “ET HR WORLD EX Awards”

  • NHPC has won the prestigious ‘The Economic Times HR World Exceptional Employee Experience Award 2023in ‘Large Scale Enterprise’ category.
  • The award was presented in a glittering ceremony organized by ET HR World at Bengaluru on 22nd November 2023.
  • It is also a recognition to NHPC’s organizational culture, extending good care & support after employees’ superannuation.

 

11) ‘Odh’ bags best film award at ‘75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow’ in IFFI

  • In Goa, the refreshing and thought-provoking short film on receding beach lines of Goa, ‘Odh’has won the best film award at the ‘75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow’ film challenge held at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
  • The film addresses the issue of receding beach lines of Goa, due to the rise in the sea levels and mass constructions happening on the beaches.

 

12) International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women: 25th Nov

  • The campaign addressed at stopping violence against women runs for 16 days, starting on November 25 and ending on December 10.
  • It is a United Nations-designated day marked to create awareness of the different types of violence faced by women, making better opportunities for women.
  • On December 20, 1993, the UNGA adopted the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women.

 

13) Anish Bhanwala won Bronze in men’s rapid fire pistol event in ISSF WC

  • In Shooting, Indian shooter Anish Bhanwalawon the bronze medal in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event at the ISSF World Cup Final 2023.
  • It took place in Doha, Qatar. 
  • Competing at the Lusail Shooting Range, Anish Bhanwala scored 27 out of 35 for third place in the final.
  • It was also the first medal for India in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event in the ISSF World Cup Final history.

 

14) Health Min closely monitoring outbreak of respiratory illness in China

  • Union Health Ministry is closely monitoring the reported outbreak of H9N2 cases and clusters of respiratory illness in children in northern China.
  • There is low risk to India from the avian influenza case reported from China.
  • Based on the currently available information, an increase in incidence of respiratory diseases in China has been reported in the last few weeks.
