2) Dr. S Jaishankar participates G-4 meeting and BRICS meeting
- External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar hosted the G-4 meeting of Foreign Ministers in September 2022.
- He also participated in the meeting of BRICS Ministers of Foreign Affairs and International Relations on September 22, 2022.
- The meeting was chaired by the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa Dr. Naledi Pandor.
3) Leh achieves 100 per cent digitization of banking operations
- Leh district of Ladakh has achieved 100 per cent digitization of banking operations.
- Leh district has completed the digitization of all the operating banks in a short span of a year.
- Leh is located at an average elevation of about 3500 metres.
- It was also the historical capital of the Kingdom of Ladakh.

4) Know About: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)
- The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the apex body in India for the formulation and promotion of biomedical research, is one of the oldest medical research bodies in the world.
- It has 27 institutes located in different parts of India.
- Research priorities: control & management of infectious diseases, fertility control, mental health research etc.
- Founded: 1911

5) Centre appoints Dr M Srinivas as director, AIIMS Delhi
- The Central Govt on 23 Sept 2022 appointed Dr M Srinivas as the Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi.
- Dr Srinivas who is Dean of ESIC Medical College and Hospital, Hyderabad, will succeed Randeep Guleria who has been holding the post since March 2017.
- His appointment is for a period of five years.

6) Dilip Tirkey elected as Hockey India president
- Dilip Tirkey, a former India hockey captain and member of the gold medal-winning team at the 1998 Asian Games, was unanimously elected as Hockey India president on 23 Sept 2022.
- First time in history, a former sportsperson and an Olympian has been elected as the head of Hockey India.
- Tirkey, 44, has a record 412 international matches as a defender in his career spanning more than 15 years.
7) Hillary Mantel, Booker Prize-winning author, passes away at 70
- Dame Hilary Mantel, the author of the best-selling Wolf Hall trilogy, passed away at the age of 70.
- Mantel won the Booker Prize twice, for “Wolf Hall” in 2009 and its sequel “Bring Up the Bodies” in 2012.
- Wolf Hall was a fictional account of Thomas Cromwell’s rise to power in the court of Henry VIII.
- The third and final book in the series, The Mirror and the Light was published in 2020.
8) Dr Rajiv Bahl appointed as ICMR Director General
- Dr Rajiv Bahl has been appointed as Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) & Secretary of the Department of Health Research for a period of three years.
- Bahl is currently working at the World Health Organization in Geneva.
- ICMR is the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research.
