1) Himachal Pradesh targets to be first ‘green energy state’ by 2025

  • The Himachal Pradesh government has announced to make the state the first Green Energy State by the end of 2025.
  • It will achieve the target by harnessing hydro, hydrogen, and solar energy and switching to green products.
  • The state is projected as a Power State in the country.
  • The state govt would also invest in solar plants and will install 500 MW solar projects during the year 2023-24.

 

2) Subhas Chandra Bose Birth Anniversary: 23 January

  • 23 January 2023 will be celebrated as the 126th birth anniversary of India’s freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose.
  • He was born on January 23, 1897, at Cuttack in Odisha and his birthday is being celebrated as ‘Parakram Divas’ (day of valor) since 2022.
  • In 1923, he was elected the President of the All India Youth Congress and was elected President of the Haripura Congress Session in 1938.

 

3) Vikram Dev Dutt to be next chief of DG of Civil Aviation

  • Union govt approved the appointment of Vikram Dev Dutt as the next Chief of the Directorate of General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on 21 January 2023.
  • He is currently serving as the chairman and managing director (CMD) of Air India Asset Holding Ltd.
  • He will take over as the head of the DGCA on February 28, upon the superannuation of incumbent DGCA chief Arun Kumar.

 

4) Justice AK Sikri appointed Administrator of Shooting World Cup 2023

  • Supreme Court Judge, A. K. Sikri has been appointed by the Delhi High Court as Administrator to manage the use of funds for the ISSF Shooting World Cup in 2023.
  • The world cup will take place in March 2023 in Bhopal.
  • According to the court, the administrator can enlist the services of any athlete of his choosing who has competed at the national or international level in shooting.

 

5) Bengaluru to host 1st G20 Environment Working Group meet in Feb 2023

  • G20’s First Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group (ECSWG) Meeting will be held from February 9-11, 2023 in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
  • It will be hosted by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change.
  • It will focus on the agenda ‘Promotion of Blue Economy, ‘Restoration of Degraded Lands & Ecosystems, and ‘Enhancement of Biodiversity.’

 

6) Thailand

  • It is a Southeast Asian country.
  • In 1932, it became a constitutional monarchy and changed its official name to Thailand.
  • It has the second-largest economy in Southeast Asia.

7) India’s deepest metro station to be built in Maharashtra’s Pune

  • India’s deepest metro station is to be built at Pune’s Civil Court, Maharashtra.
  • Pune’s Civil Court interchange station will be 108.59 feet deep with a ceiling of 95 feet.
  • The metro will be completed in February 2023 and will start in March.
  • Apart from the railway line, the headquarters of Pune Metro will also be built at the station.

 

8) Punjab government launches ‘School of Eminence’ project in Mohali

  • Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, launched the “Schools of Eminence” project in Mohali, Punjab in January 2023.
  • Under the School of Eminence project, 117 government schools in 23 districts will be upgraded.
  • The objective of this project is to ensure the holistic development of the students along with the rejuvenation of education in government schools so that they become responsible citizens.
