1) CAG G.C. Murmu elected vice-chair of UN external auditors’ panel

  • The Comptroller and Auditor General Girish Chandra Murmu participated in the sixty-third session of the Panel of External Auditors, held at the UN headquarters in New York where he was electrd for the post.
  • The Panel of External Auditors of UN has an essential duty to contribute to enhancing accountability, transparency, and governance of the organizations that compose the United Nations.

 

2) Ghol fish declared state fish of Gujarat

  • The fish is valuable and is in demand because of its meat and air bladder.
  • Ghol fish is used to make beer and wine and its air bladder is used in pharmaceuticals.
  • Ghol fish was declared the state fish of Gujarat by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel during Global Fisheries Conference India in Ahmedabad.
  • The fish is found in the marine areas of Gujarat and Maharashtra in a golden-brown colour.

 

3) CCRAS launched Ayurveda Gyan Naipunya Initiative for ayurveda doctors

  • The Central Council for Research in Ayurveda Sciencesunder the Ministry of Ayush launched the Ayurveda Gyan Naipunya Initiative (AGNI) for physicians practicing in the field of Ayurveda in New Delhi.
  • The initiative aims to promote research for mainstreaming pragmatic Ayurveda practices through scientific validation and evidence-based appraisal.

 

4) IISR develops high-yielding black pepper variety ‘Chandra’

  • Spice research instituteICAR-IISR Kozhikode has completed genome sequencing of high-yielding new black pepper variety ‘Chandra.’
  • The ‘IISR Chandra’ variety has a long spike, compact setting, and bold berries.
  • It also showed optimal spike intensity greater than that of other existing varieties and can yield 7.5 kg pepper per vine.

 

5) NIEPVD signed MoU with Nation Book Trust

  • National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities(Divyangjan), Dehradun, signed MOU with Nation Book Trust.
  • The MOU paves the way for the establishment of a Universal Design Center for Readingin Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
  • This center will showcase the National Book Trust’s collection of publications including physical books, Braille books, e-books, and audio books.

 

6) ICC banned Transgender players from International Women’s Cricket

  • The ICC said it was taking the decision to protect the integrity of international women’s game and the safety of players.
  • The board finalised the new policy after a nine-month consultation process with cricket’s stakeholders, with the final decision taken by the board.
  • The ICC on Tuesday banned transgender cricketers from participating in women’s cricket at the highest level.

 

7) IIT-Ropar researchers discover rare metal in Sutlej

  • The discovery of tantalum in Sutlej is not only significant for Punjab but for India, given its value in terms of its use in electronics and semi-conductors.
  • The discovery was made by a team of the institute’s Civil Engineering Department.
  • The researchers were working on an unrelated project when they stumbled upon the metal in samples collected from the Sutlej basin.

 

8) INS Sumedha mission deployed at Maputo, Mozambique

  • As a part of the ongoing Extended Operational Deployment to Africa, Indian Naval Ship Sumedha arrived at Maputo, Mozambique.
  • The port call is aimed at strengthening long standing diplomatic relations, reinforce maritime co-operation and boost interoperability between both the navies.
  • INS Sumedha is part of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet based at Visakhapatnam.

 

9) Col Sunita became 1st woman to command Armed Forces Transfusion center

  • Armed Forces Transfusion Centre, Delhi Cantt, is the largest blood transfusion centre of the Armed Forces.
  • Graduating from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences Rohtak, Col Sunita holds a Post Graduate degree (MD & DNB) in Pathology.
  • AFTC has state-of-the-art facilities in the field of Transfusion Medicine including Stem Cell cryopreservation, immune-hematology analyzers etc.

 

10) Parmanu Defence Academy triumph as Best Defence Academy in North India

  • The esteemed Parmanu Defence Academy Dehradun, led by the visionary Dr. Rajesh Malhotra, has been awarded the prestigious Indo Global Business Awardfor “Best Defence Academy in North India“.

11) E-Commerce cargo movement started in Ganga river

  • AsInland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) and Amazon has signed MoU, E-Commerce cargo movement started in Ganga
  • Ganga river is the National Waterway No.1 of India.
  • Maiden ship with e-commerce cargo to be flagged off from Patna to Kolkata soon.
  • The ceremony was done in presence of the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal.

 

12) Nitin Gadkari inaugurated 8th India Water Impact Summit in New Delhi

  • Shri Nitin Gadkari, the MoRTH minister inaugurated the 8th Edition of the India Water Impact Summitat the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.
  • The summit, organized by the National Mission for Clean Ganga and the Center for Ganga River Basin Management and Studies.
  • The theme of IWIS 2023 is ‘Development vis-à-vis Land, Water and Rivers.

 

13) Gleneagles hospitals make Guinness World Record for hand sanitizing

  • Gleneagles Hospitals Bengaluru has set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for most people sanitising their hands simultaneously with an unprecedented 9860 participants at the grand finale on November 22, 2023.
  • Over a 5-month period, the campaign educated 80,000+ students, engaged 100 volunteers, emphasized 6 steps of hand hygiene reaching out to 1.25L parents.
  • It was held at Bengaluru.
