- In 1757, The Battle of Plassey begins between the British Army & Siraj ud-Daulah.
- In 1894, The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is founded.
- In 1930, The Simon Commission recommended a federal India and Burma separation.
- In 1961, The Antarctic Treaty comes into force.
- In 2014, Gujarat’s ‘Rani Ki Vav’ & Himachal’s ‘Great Himalayan National Park’ were included in the World Heritage List.
3) International Olympic Day: 23 June
- The International Olympic Day is celebrated on 23rd June every year to make people aware of the importance of games in life.
- Olympic Day commemorates the founding of the International Olympic Committee on 23 June 1894 by Baron Pierre de Coubertin.
- The theme of 2023 year’s Olympic Day is ‘Let’s Move’ which aims to inspire people around the world to make time for daily physical activity.
4) GE Aerospace signs MoU with HAL to produce fighter jet engines for IAF
- GE Aerospace has signed an MoU with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to produce fighter jet engines for the Indian Air Force.
- The F414 engines will be co-produced in India to power the Indian Air Force’s Light Combat Aircraft Mk2.
- Eight F414 engines have already been delivered as part of an ongoing development program for Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) MK2.
5) IFFCO signs agreement for export of nano liquid urea to USA
- Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) has started exporting the world’s first Nano urea invented and manufactured indigenously in India to the US.
- An agreement to export Nano urea was signed between IFFCO and Kapoor Enterprises Inc of California.
- A 500 ml bottle of IFFCO Nano Urea Liquid can replace at least one bag of conventional Urea.
6) Apple to launch its credit card in India, planning to tie-up with HDFC
- In a bid to tap the growing opportunities in India’s financial sector, Apple Inc is planning to launch its credit card in India, also known as Apple Card.
- The iPhone maker is planning to tie up with HDFC bank to bring its credit card to its Indian customers.
- During the launch of Apple stores in India, CEO Tim Cook met with HDFC Bank CEO and MD Sashidhar Jagdishan in April.
7) Largest private rail coach factory in country inaugurated at Telangana
- In Telangana, the largest private rail coach factory in the country has been inaugurated at Kondakal village in Rangareddy district near Hyderabad.
- CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao formally inaugurated the facility built by Medha Servo Drives Pvt Ltd, a Telangana company that designs and manufactures complex electrical and electronic Railway products.
8) IREDA at Intersolar Europe 2023 exhibition in Munich
- IREDA showcases renewable energy initiatives at Intersolar Europe 2023 exhibition in Munich.
- IREDA had set up a pavilion.
- The pavilion served as a platform for networking and exploring potential business opportunities with IREDA, especially at the crucial time of energy transition and initial public offering (IPO) plan of IREDA, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
9) Department of Justice partners with NALSA & CSC
- The Department of Justice (DOJ) has partnered with National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and CSC e-Governance Service India Limited for mainstreaming legal aid to the marginalised communities through the system of TeleLaw.
- The TeleLaw services will be provided through the lawyers engaged by the Common Services Centers (CSCs).

- Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, won ‘Best Customer Experience and Servicing Platform’ at the 4th ELETS BFSI Came Changer Summit 2023, in Goa.
- The theme of the event was ‘Decoding New Disruptions & Technologies for a Better Tomorrow’.
11) China inks deal with Pakistan to set up nuclear power plant in Punjab
- China inked an agreement worth a whopping $4.8 billion with cash-strapped Pakistan to set up a 1,200-megawatt nuclear power plant as a sign of increasing strategic cooperation between the two all-weather allies.
- Prime Minister Sharif termed the nuclear power plant agreement signing as a token of increasing economic cooperation between Pakistan and China
