1) I&B minister launched ‘48 hour Film challenge’ at 54th IFFI in Goa

  • Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has said that the government is committed to employment generation, boosting the creator economy, and encouraging youngsters to achieve excellence in the field of films.
  • He said this while launching the ‘48-Hour Film making Challenge’ for winners of ’75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow’ initiative at the IFFI in Goa.

 

2) Pankaj Advani wins World Billiards Championship for 26th time

  • Indian cueistPankaj Advani rallied to win the IBSF World Billiards Championship title for a staggering 26th time.
  • He defeated his compatriot Sourav Kothari in the final.
  • Trailing 26-180 in the first hour, Advani rallied to defeat the 2018 world champion Kothari 1000–416 in a rematch of last year’s title clash in Kuala Lumpur.

 

3) India urges nationals to avoid non-essential travel to Myanmar

  • India has issued an advisory to its nationals urging them to avoid nonessential travel to Myanmar in view of the evolving security situation there.
  • In its advisory, the External Affairs Ministry said that those already living in Myanmar are advised to take precautions and avoid travel to the regions affected by violence.
  • It said inter-state travel by road should also be avoided.

 

4) India-UK Electric Propulsion Capability Partnership held in New Delhi

  • The 2nd India-UK Electric Propulsion Capability Partnership Joint Working Group meetingtook place in New Delhi on November 21, 2023.
  • Electric Propulsion makes use of electrical power to accelerate a propellant by different possible electrical and/or magnetic means.
  • The use of electrical power enhances the propulsive performances of EP thrusters compared with conventional chemical thrusters.

 

5) PM Modi to visit Mathura to participate in Sant Mirabai Janmotsav

  • Sant Mirabaiwas born in 23rd November, 1498.
  • The program is being organised to mark the525th Birth Anniversary of Sant Mirabai.
  • During the event, the Prime Minister will also release a commemorative stamp and coin in honour of Sant Mira Bai.
  • Sant Meerabai was a 16th-century Hindu mystic poet and devotee of Krishna.
  • She is a celebrated Bhakti saint.

 

6) AIM, NITI Aayog launches Rapid Innovation and Startup Expansion

  • A new accelerator program called Rapid Innovation and Startup Expansion (RISE) has been launched by Atal Innovation Mission under the aegis of Niti Aayog.
  • The program will support startups and small to mid-sized enterprises working on circular economy technologies and solutions in India and Australia.
  • Participating startups may also be eligible for non-equity grants up to 40 Lakh Rupees.

 

7) India and Lithuania held 9th Foreign Office Consultations in New Delhi

  • India and Lithuania share a friendly bilateral relationship and have regular exchanges at both political and official levels.
  • The Ministry added, trade between India and Lithuania has increased in recent years.
  • The FOC provided an opportunity for reviewing bilateral engagements and for exchanging views on issues of mutual interest, including the business, India’s Presidency of G20 etc.

 

8) J&K: Saffron of Kishtwar district receives GI tag

  • In Jammu and Kashmir, the Saffron of the mountainous Kishtwar district, which is cultivated and harvested in the higher reaches, has been given the Geographical Indication tag.
  • The spice is grown in some parts of the Kishtwar region of Jammu.
  • The legendary most expensive harvest of saffron, popularly known as Kumkum, is also a key cash crop in Jammu’s mountainous district of Kishtwar.

 

9) Vinay Tonse appointed as SBI MD for two years

  • Vinay M Tonse appointed as MD of State Bank of India till November 30, 2025.
  • Before the appointment, Tonse was serving as the Deputy Managing Director at the PSU bank.
  • The Deputy Manager of the state-owned bank was recommended by the Financial Services Institutions Bureau for the senior post at SBI in September.

 

10) Goldman Sachs sees India GDP growth at 6.3% in 2024

  • In the ‘India 2024 outlook’, Goldman Sachs said that repeated supply side shocks are likely to keep headline inflation above 5.1% in 2024.
  • Goldman Sachs expects the Indian economy to grow at 6.3 per cent in 2024 riding on macro-economic resilience compared to its peers in the Asia Pacific region.
  • It said, 600 Bn FOREX keeps the RBI confident to drive the economy in stable manner.

 

11) Ladakh secures 4th GI tag for Sea Buckthorn

  • Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India has officially granted the GI tag to the Department of Industries & Commerce, Ladakh and approved it as the Registered Proprietor for ‘Ladakh Sea Buckthorn.’
  • Farmers of Kargil are very excited for this special recognition for Sea Buckthorn.
  • It is one of the most profitable crop of UT Ladakh having 90% production from Ladakh in India.

 

12) Ministry of Textiles launches e-registration portal for Sari Walkathon

  • According to the Ministry of Textiles, women from across the various states of the country are being invited to showcase their ways of draping saris and thereby, presenting India as a country having Unity in Diversity.
  • Participants can enroll for the sari walkathon with this e-portal in which registration will be OTP-based.
  • The portal which aimed to promote the handloom sari culture of India

 

13) Committee set to review measures to curb atrocities against SC, ST

  • The 27th meeting of the committee on preventing SC/ST atrocities took place in New Delhi.
  • The meeting reviewed pendency of cases, charge sheet filing rate, and establishment of specialized courts.
  • The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowermentchaired the committee.
  • The committee reiterated their goal to ensure dignity for all vulnerable societal sections.

 

14) Indian Navy, DRDO trial tests first indigenous Naval Anti-Ship Missile

  • Indian Navyin association with Defence Research and Development Organisation successfully undertook Guided Flight Trials of the first indigenously developed Naval Anti-Ship Missile from Seaking 42B helicopter.
  • The trial test took place in Visakhapatnam.
  • This is a step towards achieving self-reliance in niche missile technology, including seeker and guidance technologies.

 

15) Deepti Babuta: 1st woman to bag Dhahan Prize for Punjabi literature

  • Mohali-based Deepti Babutahas become the first woman to bag the Dhahan Prize, the largest international literary award for fiction books in Punjabi language.
  • Babuta received the award for her short story collection, ‘Bhukh Eon Sah Laindi Hai’ (‘Hunger Breathes Like This’).
  • She was presented with a cash award of $25,000 CAD and a trophy at a ceremony held at Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.

 

16) ISRO Transponders Distributed to Coastal States for Fishermen’s Safety

  • The Department of Fisheries has started distributing ISRO-made transponders to coastal states, aiming to aid fishermen during emergencies.
  • These devices assist security personnel in tracking distressed fishermen and help fishermen locate more fruitful fishing areas.
  • Union Minister of Fisheries, Parshottam Rupala, inaugurated the 2023 Global Fisheries Conference and announced this news.
