1) Know About: PMAY
- Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is an initiative by the Government which aims to provide affordable housing to the urban poor.
- It has two components: Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) (PMAY-U) for the urban poor and Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Gramin) for the rural poor.
- Total 1 crore homes have been approved against total demand of 1.12 crore as of 28 December 2019.
2) Know About: Khelo India
- Khelo India is a govt programme which was launched in 2017-18.
- It aims at improving India’s sports culture at the grass-root level through organized talent identification, structured sporting competitions and infrastructure development.
- Several events are organised under it including Khelo India Youth Games, Khelo India University Games, and Khelo India School Games.
3) World Statistics Day: 20 October
- World Statistics Day is being observed on October 20 every five years.
- The day highlights the significance of data and statistics in the day-to-day development of society.
- The day was designated in 2010 by the United Nations Statistical Commission
- The theme for 2022 is ‘Data for Sustainable Development!
4) PM Modi launches Mission LIFE movement at Kevadiya
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Mission LIFE at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat in the presence of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on 20 October 2022.
- He also participated in the Heads of Missions conference at Kevadiya.
- He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 1,970 crore at Vyara in Tapi district of South Gujarat.
5) PMAY (Urban) awards: MP second in ‘best performing state’ category
- MP has achieved second rank in the country under the ‘Best Performing State’ category in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban scheme.
- The state has received awards in eight categories in the PMAY Awards-2021: 150 Days Challenge.
- It shared the special category award with Gujarat in Best State for Convergence, and with Jharkhand and Arunachal Pradesh in Best State for Conducting Information.
6) Fifth Khelo India Youth Games 2022 to be held in Madhya Pradesh
- The Fifth Khelo India Youth Games -2022 will be held in the State of Madhya Pradesh.
- This was announced by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur.
- It will be held at eight locations and more than 8,500 athletes and sportspersons are expected to participate.
- It will be held at different places in the state including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, and Jabalpur.
7) Know About: Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDAI)
- IRDAI is the apex body responsible for regulating & developing the insurance industry in India.
- Its primary purpose is to protect the rights of the policyholders in India.
- It comes under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Finance, Govt of India.
- It was established by an act of Parliament: the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999.

8) Know About: Competition Commission of India (CCI)
- The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is the chief national competition regulator in India.
- It is a statutory body within the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
- It is responsible for enforcing the Competition Act, 2002.
- Objective: to promote competition & prevent activities that have an appreciable adverse effect on competition in India.

9) IRDAI approves the launch of ‘Bima Sugam’ online platform
- Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has announced the launch of ‘Bima Sugam’ – an online marketplace where all the health and life insurance policies will be listed.
- It will be a one-stop destination for all insurance needs, providing services like buying insurance policies, change of insurance agents and settling of claims.
- It will be operationalised by Jan 2023.
10) IIT Madras wins national intellectual property award
- IIT-Madras has won the national intellectual property (IP) award for 2021 & 2022.
- This annual award recognises individuals & institutions for their IP creations that contribute to strengthen the country’s IP ecosystem & encourage creativity & innovation.
- It is given out by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt of India.
- The total number of patent applications filed in India in 2021: 120
11) National Police Commemoration Day: 21st October
- Every year, October 21st is celebrated as the National Police Commemoration Day, to pay tributes to all police personnel who died in the line of duty.
- This day also remembers the sacrifice of 10 police personnel who lost their lives on 21st Oct 1959, in Ladakh while fighting the Chinese army.
- In Oct 2018, PM Modi inaugurated India’s first national police museum in Delhi.
12) Interpol launches first global police metaverse at Delhi conference
- The Interpol on 20th Oct 2022 launched the first ever metaverse designed for law enforcement agencies worldwide during its 90th General Assembly in Delhi.
- It allows the users to take a virtual tour of Interpol’s headquarters in France’s Lyon, interact with officers & take training courses in forensic investigation.
- Interpol has partnered with the World Economic Forum for this Metaverse.
13) HCL founder Shiv Nadar is India’s most generous person: Hurun report
- HCL founder Shiv Nadar has emerged as India’s most generous person with an annual donation of Rs 1,161 crore, according to the EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2022.
- Wipro’s Azim Premji came in second with an annual donation of Rs 484 crore.
- With a donation of Rs 120 crore, Rohini Nilekani is the most generous woman philanthropist in the country.
14) UK Prime Minister Liz Truss resigns
- UK Prime Minister Liz Truss on 20th Oct 2022 resigned from the post just six weeks after her appointment.
- Truss accepted that she could not deliver the promises she made & has lost the faith of her party.
- She was appointed as the UK PM on 6th Sept 2022.
- With this, Truss has become the shortest-serving PM (45 days) in British history.
