1) Indian Armed Forces officers awarded ‘Golden Owl’ at DSCSC Sri Lanka
- Three Indian Armed Forces officers, Wing Commander Sumeet Mahajan, Major Rohit and Lieutenant Commander Sunny Sharma undergoing training at Defence Services Command and Staff College in Sri Lanka, received the ‘Golden Owl’ for exceptional performance.
- The officers ranked first among foreign students in their respective Army, Navy, and Air Force wings.
2) Genrobotics chosen among top three Indian startups at global Al summit
- Genrobotics, a Kerala-based startup acclaimed for leveraging technology for social change, has been adjudged among top three Artificial Intelligence startups of India at the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence Summit 2023 organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
- Genrobotic’s G-gaiter Robotic Technology won the award in ‘Al Game Changers’ category
3) Akash missile made record by hitting four targets at once at 25km
- The Akash, with a range of up to 25 km, is a short-range surface to air missile primarily used for protecting vulnerable areas and points from air attacks.
- India became first country to demonstrate the capability of engagement of 4 aerial targets simultaneously at 25Km ranges by command guidance using single firing unit.
- This capability was displayed at the ‘Astrashakti’ military exercise.
4) IAF testfired ‘SAMAR’ air defence missiles at Exercise Astrashakti
- The Indian Air Force successfully tested the SAMAR air defence missile system in Exercise AstraShakti-2023.
- SAMAR, developed from old Russian air-to-air missiles, can engage aerial threats at speeds of 2 to 2.5 Mach.
- Indian Air Force (IAF) Base Repair Depot (BRD) developed this missile.
- It is the refurbished version of Russian- supplied Vympel R-73E infrared guided air-to-air missiles.
5) Hyderabad ranked 1st in food adulteration cases: NCRB report
- Hyderabad came first in India in food adulteration cases, with 246 out of 291 reported in 2022, as per NCRB data.
- In 2022, a total of 291 cases of food adulteration were reported across 19 major cities in India.
- Despite public health risks from adulterated food, the accused in these cases don’t involve minors working in adulteration units.
6) Parshottam Rupala addressed Animal Health Conclave in New Delhi
- Minister Parshottam Rupala called for India to lead in animal husbandry using its population, resources, and opportunity.
- He advocated for exploring medicines from Unani and Ayurveda for economical livestock health care options.
- The Minister appreciated the ‘One Health’ agenda, PM’s mobile veterinary initiative, and urged state-centric solutions for animal health issues.
7) PM inaugurated Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023
- PM Modi inaugurated Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023 in Varanasi, launching multi-lingual and braille translations of classic Tamil literature.
- The event celebrated the age-old connection between Tamil Nadu and Kashi, with PM highlighting the shared cultural heritage.
- The Tamil Sangamam is aimed to help continue empowering India’s heritage, and strengthening the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat
8) Arctic Council
- The Arctic Council is an intergovernmental organization formally established in 1996 by the Ottawa Declaration.
- It aims to promote cooperation, coordination, and interaction between the Arctic States.
- Members: Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and the United States.
- India has the ‘Observer’ country status. Observers have no voting rights in the Council.
