1) MP CM Chouhan inaugurates ‘Mukhyamantri Ladli Bahna Awas Yojana’
- The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the Mukhyamantri Ladli Bahna Awas Yojana in Bhopal.
- Applications for the scheme will be filled from September 17 to Oct 5.
- The biggest need after food and clothes is a house, according to CM Chouhan.
- The scheme will include those families who do not have pucca roof houses or live in kutcha houses with less than two rooms.
2) NSE to introduce IRRA platform to address technical issues
- The National Stock Exchange (NSE) is introducing an Investor Risk Reduction Access (IRRA) platform from October 3.
- The platform aims to address technical glitches or any outage for trading members.
- The platform will be available to trading members supporting internet-based trading (IBT) and Security Trading through Wireless Technology (STWT) for their investors.
3) Himanta Biswa Sarma awarded with Singapore’s top fellowship
- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been awarded the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship for his distinguished contribution to public service.
- The Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship is conferred on outstanding individuals in recognition of bilateral relations with Singapore.
- Mr Sarma is the first Assam Chief Minister to have been bestowed with this prestigious fellowship.
4) Indian Naval Ship Sharda visits Mauritius
- INS Sharda, Indian Navy’s Offshore Patrol Vessel visited Port Louis, Mauritius from 13-15 Sep 2023.
- The ship conducted joint EEZ surveillance with the Mauritius National Coast Guard.
- During the visit, the ship engaged in several professional interactions and cross training visits.
- INS Sharda conducted lecture cum training sessions on firefighting, damage control and small arms handling.
5) Chhattisgarh to host 4th meeting of the G20 Framework Working Group
- The G20 Framework Working Group will hold its final meeting in Raipur, Chhattisgarh on September 18-19, 2023.
- Over 65 delegates from G20 members and invitee countries will participate in the meeting.
- The FWG discusses global economic outlook and policy guidance on macroeconomic issues.
- The FWG deliverables under the 2023 Indian Presidency have been concluded successfully.
6) Haryana to give ₹50,000 for daughters of industrial workers
- Haryana CM Khattar announced a grant of Rs. 50,000 for daughters of industrial workers pursuing higher education to buy electric two-wheelers.
- The move aims to promote mobility and independence among the daughters of industrial workers.
- The scholarship amount for children of industrial workers has been increased and ranges from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 21,000.
7) Brahmotsavam began at Tirumala temple
- Tirumala Sri Venkateswara temple is all set for the annual Brahmotsavam, which commences today.
- In preparation for the Brahmotsavam, the priests of the temple have performed the ritual Ankuararpanam, which means “sowing the seed”.
- The priests performed the Ankurarpana in the Yagashala of the temple.
8) Rabindranath Tagore’s Santiniketan gets UNESCO’s World Heritage tag
- Santiniketan, where Rabindranath Tagore built Visva-Bharati University, has been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
- The Extended 45th Session of the World Heritage Committee took place in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) from 10 to 25 September.
- Apart from Santiniketan, UNESCO included 13 other sites in the list.
- In 1921, a ‘Visva Bharati University’ was established at Santiniketan.
9) World Bamboo Day: 18 September
- World Bamboo Day is observed annually on September 18 to celebrate the benefits of this versatile and sustainable resource.
- Bamboo is a type of grass that grows rapidly and is known for its strength.
- World Bamboo Day was established by the World Bamboo Organization in 2009.
- The idea to celebrate bamboo was proposed during the first World Bamboo Congress in Bangkok, Thailand in 2009.
10) Udhampur railway station renamed after Captain Tushar Mahajan
- The Northern Railway has renamed Udhampur railway station to ‘Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Railway Station’ in honour of the Army braveheart.
- The renaming of the railway station was approved by the Jammu and Kashmir administration.
- Captain Tushar Mahajan was from Udhampur and an officer of the 9 PARA.
- He laid down his life during the February 2016 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
11) Indian Coast Guard conducts International Coastal Clean-up Day 2023
- Indian Coast Guard conducted International Coastal Clean-up Day (ICC-2023) on 16 Sep 2023 across all Coastal States and Union Territories.
- ICC-2023 is held worldwide every year on the third Saturday of September under the aegis of the United Nations Environment Programme.
- The Indian Coast Guard has been coordinating this activity in India since 2006.
12) Srinivasan K. Swamy elected Chairman of Audit Bureau of Circulations
- rinivasan K. Swamy, Executive Chairman of R.K. Swamy Hansa Group, has been unanimously elected Chairman of the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) for the year 2023-2024.
- Swamy currently serves as Chairman of the Asian Federation of Advertising Associations.
- He was earlier President of the International Advertising Association (IAA), and Madras Management Association.
13) Dr. RML Hospital opens India’s first dedicated OPD for Transgenders
- RML Hospital inaugurated India’s first dedicated OPD for Transgenders.
- They will be provided with an endocrinology facility with hormone analysis and free hormonal treatment, a psychiatry facility with clinical-psychological assessment, and plastic surgery.
- It is a significant step towards providing accessible and inclusive healthcare services for the transgender community in India.
14) Maharashtra Govt to implement ‘NaMo 11 Point Programme’
- Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde announced the “NaMo 11 Point Programme” on PM Modi’s birthday.
- The programme aims to benefit farmers, people from backward classes, women and youth.
- The “NaMo Women Empowerment” campaign will benefit 73 lakh women from government schemes.
- The “NaMo Kamgar Kalyan” campaign will provide safety kits to 73 thousand construction workers.
15) India win Asia Cup for record-extending 8th time
- India won the Asia Cup 2023 after beating Sri Lanka in the final by 10 wickets.
- Kuldeep Yadav clinches 9 wickets in the tournament and wins the Player of the Tournament award.
- The ground staff who ensured successful completion of the matches were presented with an award of $50000.
- Mohammed Siraj earned the Player of the Match award.
- Ravindra Jadeja was awarded the Catch of the Match award
16) Dharmendra Pradhan, Om Birla launch ‘Skills on Wheels’
- Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla launched the ‘Skills on Wheels’ initiative in Delhi to promote skill development and digital literacy.
- The initiative aims to generate awareness about government support for youth in skill development.
- ‘Skills on Wheels’ is a unique experiment that will start in Rajasthan and later expand to other parts of the country.
17) Payal Chhabra becomes 1st Woman Army Surgeon to become Para Commando
- Major Dr Payal Chhabra is the first woman surgeon to join the elite Para Special Forces of the Indian Army.
- She hails from Haryana and holds an MBBS degree and MS surgery degree.
- Dr Chhabra became a senior resident doctor at the surgery department of Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College in Karnal, Haryana, in 2020.
- She was commissioned into the Indian Army as a Captain in January 2021.
18) ‘Maha Kumbh of Divyangjan’ held for the first time in Varanasi
- ‘Maha Kumbh of Divyangjan’ was held for the first time in Varanasi on 17 September 2023.
- The event aimed at creating awareness and providing a platform for the empowerment of people with disabilities.
- The ‘Maha Kumbh of Divyangjan’ is a gathering of persons with disabilities (Divyangjan).
- The event was organised by the National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC).
