1) Amit Shah launches first Hindi version of MBBS course books in Bhopal

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah on 16th Oct 2022 launched an MBBS course in Hindi for the first time in the country in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
  • The books released by Mr Shah have scientific biological terms written in Devanagari script and explanations in Hindi.
  • Recently, a committee of Parliamentarians had recommended Hindi as language for higher education in Hindi speaking states.

 

2) Dharmendra Pradhan launches NEP – 2020 in Dehradun

  • Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on 16th Oct 2022 launched the National Education Policy-2020 for the academic session 2022-23 in higher education in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
  • Uttarakhand was the first state in the country to implement the New Education Policy at the pre-primary level with Bal Vatikas in July 2022.
  • The NEP 2020 has replaced the National Policy on Education, 1986.

  • The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) is an international organization that facilitates worldwide police cooperation and crime control.
  • It has seven regional bureaus worldwide and a National Central Bureau in all 195 member countries.
  • It is governed by a General Assembly composed of all member countries.

4) World Food Day: 16th October

  • World Food Day is observed every year on 16th October worldwide to raise awareness on the issue of hunger & the waste of food.
  • It also celebrates the foundation day (16 Oct 1945) of the Food & Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations.
  • This day was established in 1979, as per the suggestion of the former Hungarian minister of agriculture Dr Pal Romany.

5) India to host 90th General Assembly of INTERPOL from 18th to 21st Oct

  • India will host the 90th General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) from 18th to 21st of Oct in New Delhi.
  • The General Assembly is the INTERPOL’s top governing body & meets once a year to take key decisions.
  • It was last held in India in 1997.
  • India is one of the oldest members of INTERPOL & joined the organization in 1949.

6) India win 2022 Women’s Asia Cup T20 title

  • The Indian women’s cricket team on 15th Oct 2022 won the Women’s Asia Cup T20 title after defeating Sri Lanka Women’s team in the final at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh.
  • The Indian team have defeated the Lankan team for the fifth time in an Asia Cup final.
  • This is India’s record seventh Women’s Asia Cup title.
  • Renuka Singh of India won the Player of the match award.

 

8) International Day for the Eradication of Poverty: 17th October

  • International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is observed every year on 17th October and aims to raise awareness about people living in poverty.
  • The UN General Assembly established this day in 1992.
  • According to the World Data Lab, by 2030, 359 million people will be living in extreme poverty.
  • 2022 Theme: ‘Dignity for all in Practice’
