- Ajeet Singh clinches gold medal in finals of Men’s javelin Throe
- In Para Athletics, Ajeet Singh has clinched the gold medal in the finals of the Men’s javelin throw F46 in the ongoing Championships in Paris.
- He pulled out a throw of 65.41 and finished on top of the tree. He broke the championship record, which was earlier held by Chunliang Guo of China with a throw of 61.89.
- Another countryman, Rinku won the silver medal with a best throw of 65.38.

- Dr Ami Bera, an Indian-American physician-turned politician has received the Champion of Healthcare Innovation Award for his contributions to making high-quality care affordable and accessible in the US.
- Bera, 58, the longest-serving Indian-American serving in the US Congress, was among those facilitated during the council’s Innovation Expo held here last week.
3) India, UAE sign MOU for planning to establish IIT-Delhi campus
- India and UAE signed a MOU for planning to establish Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) – Delhi in Abu Dhabi.
- The MoU was signed following talks between UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and PM Narendra Modi in Abu Dhabi.
- This was envisioned in the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed between the top leadership of the two countries in early 2022.
4) Four militants killed in nightlong Under Operation Trinetra II
- Four militants have been killed in an ongoing anti-militancy operation in Jammu & Kashmir’s Poonch district (Surankote area), the Army.
- The operation, which is jointly carried out by the Army and the J&K Police, was launched.
- The operation, named Operation Trinetra-ll, is still ongoing in the areas around Sindarah and Maidana villages in Surankote, Poonch.
5) India will host global food regulators summit
- India is all set to launch its ‘food-o-copoeia’, a collection of safety and quality regulations for each food category.
- Mansukh Mandaviya unveiled the logo of the summit to be held in Delhi and said that the event will provide a valuable platform for participants to deliberate on food safety and regulatory aspects.
- The summit is expected to witness participation from various stakeholders
6) Comic Con India announces first edition in Chennai
- Comic Con India has announced its first-ever edition in Chennai
- It will take place in the city, the event will showcase a range of international and Indian comic creators, artists and industry figures while immersing fans in a ‘world of comics, manga, anime and all things pop culture’
- Previous editions of Comic Con India have happened in cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore
7) Satwik breaks world record for fastest badminton hit with 565-kmph
- India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy has broken the world record for the fastest badminton hit by a male with a 565-kmph smash.
- Sports equipment manufacturing firm Yonex stated that Satwik attempted the world record on April 14, 2023 in Japan.
- The previous world record (493 kmph) was achieved by Malaysian badminton player Tan Boon Heong in 2013.
