1) Arunachal Pradesh CM inaugurates new monastery in Tawang
- The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, has inaugurated a new monastery, the Shar Nyima Tsho Sum Namyig Lhakhang Gonpa, in Tawang district.
- The monastery, which is located near the Tawang Monastery, is designed to be a center for spiritual and cultural activities for the local community.
- The construction of the monastery was supported by the government of Arunachal Pradesh.
2) Nike, Adidas shoes maker Pou Chen to invest in India
- Pou Chen Corporation, the Taiwan-based manufacturer of shoes for brands like Nike and Adidas, has announced plans to invest nearly $281 million in India.
- The investment will be made over a period of five years and will be used to expand the company’s manufacturing facilities in the country.
- Pou Chen already has a significant presence in India, with over 30 manufacturing facilities.

4) Karnataka Bank names Sekhar Rao as interim CEO

- The move comes after the previous CEO, Mahabaleshwara MS, retired on March 31, 2023, after serving the bank for over four decades.
- Sekhar Rao was previously the Chief General Manager of the bank.
5) Neeli Bendapudi named to a US-India task force
- Indian-American academic Neeli Bendapudi has been named to a task force set up to expand partnerships between universities in the United States and India.
- The task force is part of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum.
- Bendapudi is the first woman to serve as president of the University of Louisville in Kentucky.
6) Syria declared the world’s largest narco-state
- Syria has been declared as the world’s largest producer and exporter of drugs.
- Its economic survival now depends heavily on the production and export of Captagon, also known as the “poor man’s coke”.
- Captagon, a banned illicit drug recognized by the UNODC (2021), is a synthetic stimulant that combines amphetamine and caffeine.

The Asian Champions Trophy is held every two years, and India has won the tournament twice in 2011 and 2016.
