1) Simona Halep awarded 4-year ban from Tennis for doping
- Simona Halep, a two-time Grand Slam champion, has been handed a four-year suspension from professional tennis due to doping violations.
- The ITIA (International Tennis Integrity Agency) has taken decisive action against her for doping violations.
- With her four-year ban, Simona Halep is ineligible to compete in professional tennis until October 2026.

- Hindi is also spoken in countries like Mauritius, Nepal, Fiji, Suriname, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago.
4) Cabinet approves expansion of Ujjwala Yojana
- The Union Cabinet has approved the extension of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) for the release of 75 lakh LPG connections from the Financial Year 2023-24 to 2025-26.
- The release of 75 lakh additional Ujjwala connections will take the total number of PMUY beneficiaries to 10.35 crore.
- The first refill and stove will be provided free of cost to Ujjawala beneficiaries.
5) Delhi govt gives nod diesel vehicles for inter-state carriage
- Delhi govt allows registration of all BS VI-compliant diesel vehicles for inter-state stage carriage.
- Supreme Court modified its previous order to allow registration of BS VI-compliant diesel vehicles in Delhi.
- The order applies to all BS VI-compliant diesel vehicles in Delhi for Inter-State Stage Carriage, All India Tourist Permit (AITP) holders having a capacity of more than 7+1 persons.

- The Delhi government has imposed a complete ban on all kinds of crackers in the city to curb pollution during winter.
- The use of firecrackers can pose several health risks, especially during festive seasons and celebrations.
- The smoke and emissions produced by fireworks contain harmful pollutants like sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter.
7) India slashes solar imports from China upto 76 percent
- India’s solar module imports from China dropped by 76% during the first half of 2023, reflecting its shift towards self-sufficiency in solar manufacturing.
- India started levying a customs duty of 40% on solar modules & 25% on solar cells in April 2022 to cut imports and boost local manufacturing.
- China accounts for about 80% of the global market share in the solar panel manufacturing market.
8) India, Russia agree to train Indian seafarers in polar & arctic water
- India and Russia have agreed to train Indian seafarers in polar and arctic waters.
- The training will take place in a far eastern Russian port.
- They talked about the possibility of using new transport corridors like the Northern Sea Route.
- They also discussed Eastern Maritime Corridor between Vladivostok and Chennai.
- The Northern Sea Route is a shipping lane that connects Asia and Europe.
9) India’s Sindhu Gangadharan appointed as Nasscom Vice-Chairperson
- Sindhu Gangadharan has been named Vice-Chairperson of Nasscom, India’s apex body for the tech industry.
- Gangadharan is Senior VP and MD at SAP Labs India, responsible for product development and innovation.
- Gangadharan also serves on the boards of organizations such as Siemens India and Titan Company Limited.
- Earlier this year, she was appointed Chairperson of Nasscom’s GCC Council.

- India and Antigua & Barbuda signed a MoU to share successful digital solutions for digital transformation.
- The primary objective of the MoU is to foster closer cooperation and exchange of experiences in digital technologies.
- India Stack Solutions aims to provide universal access to public services through open, interoperable technologies that encourage innovation.

- Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched Skill India Digital, a comprehensive digital platform aimed at transforming the skills, education, employment, and entrepreneurship landscape of India.

- Skill India Digital is the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for skilling iin India.
12) Maharashtra won the 5th National Wheelchair Rugby Championship 2023
- Maharashtra won the 5th National Wheelchair Rugby Championship 2023, beating Karnataka in a convincing victory with a final score of 31-10.
- The championship was held in Balewadi, Pune from September 10 to September 11, 2023.
- The Indian Rugby Football Union (Rugby India) organized the championship in association with the Wheelchair Rugby Federation of India and Mitsubishi Corporation.
13) President Droupadi Murmu inaugurates ‘National E-Vidhan Application’
- The President of India inaugurated the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) and addressed the Gujarat Legislative Assembly.
- The E-Assembly is essential to transforming the House into a Digital House.

14) Union Govt approves signing of MoU between India & Armenia
- India and Armenia have signed an MoU to share successful digital solutions implemented at a population scale for digital transformation.
- The MoU was approved by the Indian Government on September 13, 2023.
- The MoU is between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India and the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia.

18) 4th G20 meet on financial inclusion to begin in Mumbai on 14 September
- A three-day G20 meeting on financial inclusion will be held in Mumbai from 14 September 2023.
- The fourth G20 global partnership for financial inclusion (GPFI) will bring together over 50 delegates from G20 member countries.
- The meeting will involve discussions on ongoing work of the financial inclusion agenda under the G20 India Presidency in areas of digital financial inclusion.
