1) Khelo India Youth Games 2021 concludes at Panchkula in Haryana
- The Khelo India Youth Games 2021 concluded on 13 June 2022 at Panchkula in Haryana.
- The closing ceremony was organised at Indradanush Auditorium in Panchkula.
- This was the fourth edition of the Khelo India Youth Games.
- Haryana emerged as champion by getting the top position in the medal tally with a total of 137 medals while Maharashtra got the second position by winning 125 medals.
2) Tony Awards 2022 announced
- Tony Awards took place on June 12, 2022 in New York City.
- Best Actor (Musical) was won by Myles Frost for “MJ”
- Best Actress (Musical) was won by Joaquina Kalukango for “Paradise Square”
- Best Director (Musical) was won by Marianne Elliott for “Company”
- Best Musical was won by ‘Strange Loop!
- Best Musical Revival was won by ‘Company!
3) Ather Energy partners with SBI for customer retail finance
- Ather Energy has partnered with State Bank of India to provide customers with vehicle financing.
- As part of the association, Ather Energy customers will get instant loans at interest rates as low as 9.55 percent per annum.
- SBI will offer the vehicle loans on their YONO mobile application as well as at their branch network, as the public sector lender ensures ease of adoption for the buyers.
4) Saanapathi Gurunaidu clinches gold medal in in men’s 55 kilogram event
- Indian weightlifter Saanapathi Gurunaidu won gold medal in men’s 55-kilogram event at the IWF Youth World Championships in Leon, Mexico on 12 Jun’22.
- Vijay Prajapati and Akansha Kishor Vyavhare clinched silver medals on the opening day.
- Saanapathi lifted 104 kilogram in Snatch winning Silver while 126 kilogram lifting in Clean and Jerk to finish on the top to grab the Gold medal.
5) Canada: 1st country to introduce written warning on every cigarette
- Canada is all set to become the world’s first nation to introduce a printed warning on every cigarette.
- The move comes two decades after the country became a trendsetter by including graphic photo warnings on tobacco products’ packaging.
- While the exact message could change, but the current proposal is, ‘Poison in every puff!

6) National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment 2021 released
- Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh released the 2nd edition of the National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment 2021 (NeSDA 2021) on 13 June 2022.
- The NeSDA 2021 report has been prepared covering the assessment of States, Union Territories with a focus on Central Ministries on their effectiveness in delivering online services to citizens.
- NeSDA 2021 covers services across seven sectors.
7) Himanshu Jain qualifies for Pro Circuit World Snooker Tour
- Himanshu Jain on 11 June 2022 created history by becoming the 1st Indian to qualify for the Pro Circuit World Snooker from the Q School qualifying championship.
- The championship was organised by the World Snooker Tour, in Bangkok on 11 June’22.
- Himanshu is the fifth Indian overall (the others being Yasin Merchant Pankaj Advani Aditya Mehta Lucky Vatnani) to get an entry into the circuit.
8) Karnataka’s Aishwarya Babu breaks triple jump national record
- Karnataka’s Aishwarya Babu leapt a massive distance of 14.14m, breaking a national record in women’s triple jump at the ongoing National Inter-State Athletics Meet in Chennai on 13 June 2022.
- Aishwarya bettered Mayookha Johny’s earlier national record of 14.11m set in 2011.
- Renu of Haryana was a distant second with an effort of 13.43m while Karthika Gothandapani was third with 13.25m.
9) Rajesh Exports to set up India’s first display plant
- Rajesh Exports has agreed to invest $3 billion in Telangana to set up the country’s first electronic-display plant.
- It is making the investment through Elest, a unit it incorporated for diversifying into making products such as displays and electric vehicles.
- The company has qualified for incentives under a $2.4 billion federal government scheme for battery manufacturing in India.
10) Rahul Srivatshav becomes India’s 74th Grandmaster
- Rahul Srivatshav of Telangana has become India’s 74th Grandmaster.
- He achieved the title after breaking the 2500 (Elo points) barrier in live FIDE ratings during the 9th Cattolica Chess Festival 2022 in Italy.
- To become a GM, a player has to secure three GM norms and cross the live rating of 2500 Elo points.
- Viswanathan Anand is India’s first GM, which he became way back in 1988.
11) World Blood Donor Day: 14 June
- World Blood Donor Day is celebrated annually on June 14.
- It is observed to raise awareness about the need for safe blood & blood products & also to thank blood donors for their life-saving noble act.
- The theme for 2022 is ‘Blood donation is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives.’
- The day marks the birthday of Karl Landsteiner who discovered the ABO blood group system in 1901

12) IIT Jodhpur, AIIMS Jodhpur collaborate to offer MedTech programmes
- IIT Jodhpur has collaborated with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jodhpur.
- They will offer Master’s, Master’s-PhD and PhD programmes in medical technologies.
- This is the first programme in India that provides an opportunity to medical professionals and engineers to learn and share knowledge under a trans-disciplinary academic umbrella.
13) Jammu and Kashmir tops among UTS in e-governance service delivery
- Jammu and Kashmir has topped among all Union Territories of India in e-governance services delivery, according to the National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment (NeSDA) report 2021.
- The report was released by Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on 13 June 2022 in New Delhi.
- J&K was assessed for the first time in NeSDA 2021 and scored the highest amongst all UTs for six sectors.
14) 38th India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol begins in Andaman Sea
- The navies of India and Indonesia on 13 June 2022 began an 11-day coordinated patrol in the Andaman Sea and Malacca Strait.
- The 38th India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT) between the Indian Navy Units of Andaman & Nicobar Command and the Indonesian Navy will take place till June 24, 2022.
- This is the first post-pandemic Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) between the two countries.
15) Akanksha Vyvahare wins silver medal for India
- In weightlifting, Akanksha Vyvahare won a silver medal for India in the Youth World Championships in Mexico on 12 June 2022.
- She won the medal in the Women’s 40 kg category.
- She finished first in the Snatch portion of the event, lifting 59 kg, and third in the Clean and Jerk section, lifting 68 kg, earning her the silver medal with a total of 127 kg.
16) Russia becomes India’s second-biggest oil supplier
- Russia in May 2022, has overtaken Saudi Arabia to become India’s second-biggest supplier of oil behind Iraq.
- India bought about 25 million barrels of Russian oil in May 2022 or over 16 per cent of all its oil imports.
- After the US and China, India is the world’s third-largest consumer of oil, over 85 per cent of which is imported.
17) International Albinism Awareness Day: 13 June
- The International Albinism Awareness Day (IAAD) is annually observed on June 13.
- It represents the importance and celebration of human rights of people with albinism.
- Albinism is a non-contagious, genetically inherited ailment that results in the lack of melanin in the skin, eyes, and hair.
- The theme for 2022 is “United in making our voice heard.”
- The day was first observed in 2015.
18) Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launches “Start-Ups for Railways”
- Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launched “Start-Ups for Railways” in New Delhi on 13 June 2022.
- This Start-Up policy aims to leverage innovative technologies developed by Indian Startups, MSMEs, Innovators and Entrepreneurs to improve the operational efficiency and safety of Indian Railways.
- This policy is part of the Indian Railways Innovation Programme.
