1) Amit Shah to inaugurate mega conclave “Strengthening PACS through FPOS

  • Amit Shah will inaugurate a day-long mega conclave “Strengthening PACS through FPOs” in New Delhi on 14th of this month.
  • The conclave is aimed at discussing ways to strengthen Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) through Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).
  • The conclave will witness the participation of experts from the sector as well as members from the FPOs.

 

2) Jaipur warms up to 132nd Durand Cup grand trophy tour

  • The pink city, Jaipur warmed up to the 132nd Durand Cup Grand Trophy Tour here at the Rajasthan International Centre.
  • Jaipur hosted the Durand trophies for the second consecutive year which is the sixth stop of the trophies which will travel the length and breadth of the country during this month.
  • The Trophy Tour will be finally flagged in, at Kolkata on August 1, 2023.

 

3) SEBI amends rules for issuers of debt securities

  • SEBI has notified rules for introducing the concept of general information and key information document to avoid multiple filings of documents by issuers of debt securities.
  • The move will promote ease of doing business for issuers.
  • A General Information Document will contain the information and disclosures specified in the common schedule.

 

4) LIC pares stake in Exide Industries to 3.51%

  • Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has pared its stake in Exide Industries to 3.51% by divesting more than 1.70 crore shares in about 30 months.
  • Exide Industries shares closed flat at *247.75 apiece on the BSE. According to the shareholding pattern in the company, up to the quarter ended March 2023, LIC’s holding was 4.29%.

 

5) United States has world’s most powerful military

  • The US has the strongest military force in the world, with Russia and China in second and third and India in fourth place, according to Global Firepower, a data website that tracks global defense-related information.
  • The 2023 Military Strength list – which also includes the nations with the weakest military force the world, which includes Bhutan and Iceland – assessed over 60 factors.

 

6) Max Verstappen wins British Grand Prix

  • Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the British Grand Prix, McLaren driver Lando Norris came in the second position followed by Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton in the third.

7) Bangladesh moves beyond dollar to settle trade with India in rupee

  • Bangladesh is all set to settle trade with India in Rupee, a move to cut their reliance on the American currency, which was involved in nearly 90 per cent of global forex transactions in 2022.
  • Bangladesh Bank and the Indian High Commission are expected to announce the news regarding the Indian currency at an event at Le Meridien Hotel in Dhaka.

 

8) Parth Salunkhe becomes first Indian to win Youth World Championship

  • Parth Salunkhe became the first male archer to win a gold in the recurve category at the Youth World Championships as India finished with their highest-ever tally of 11 medals.
  • The 19-year-old from Satara in Maharashtra provided the perfect icing on the cake by defeating a Korean in the Under-21 men’s recurve individual final, in Limerick, Ireland last night.
