DAILY DOSE 11TH APRIL CURRENT AFFAIRS
1) 4th India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue begins on 11 April 2022
- The fourth India-US 2+ 2 Ministerial Dialogue will be held on 11 April 2022.
- The Indian delegation is being led by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Jaishankar.
- The US will be represented by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defence Llyod Austin.
- The last 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue between the two countries was held in October 2020 in New Delhi.
2) Indian Army, DRDO successfully flight test Pinaka Mk-l system
- Pinaka Mk-I (Enhanced) Rocket System EPRS and Pinaka Area Denial Munition ADM rocket systems were successfully flight-tested by DRDO and Indian Army in April 2022.
- They were tested at Pokhran Firing Ranges.
- A total of 24 EPRS rockets were fired for different ranges during a period of 2 weeks.
- The Pinaka rocket system has been developed by Armament Research and Development Establishment.
3) India wins Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles Squash titles in Glasgow
- Dipika Pallikal won the women’s doubles and mixed doubles titles with Joshna Chinappa and Saurav Ghosal, respectively at the World Doubles Squash Championships in Glasgow on 9 April 2022.
- Dipika Pallikal and Saurav Ghosal defeated England’s Adrian Waller and Alison Waters 11-6, 11-8 in the final at the Scotstoun Leisure Centre.
- They became India’s first-ever World Doubles squash champions.
4) NCPCR to celebrate Pariksha Parv 4.0 from 11 April to 31 May 2022
- The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) will be celebrating Pariksha Parv- 4.0 from 11 April to 31 May 2022.
- It is an endeavour for providing a platform for students, parents and teachers to share their thoughts and get guidance and important tips from the experts
- It also includes SAMVEDNA (1800-121-2830), a toll-free tele counselling service of NCPCR to help students.
5) President inaugurates 5-day Madhavpur Ghed fair in Porbandar
- President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated a five-day fair at Madhavpur Ghed village in Gujarat’s Porbandar district, on 10 April 2022.
- This fair is held to celebrate the wedding of Lord Krishna and Goddess Rukmani at Madhavpur Ghed, a famous pilgrimage spot.
- The famous Madhavray temple was originally built in this village in the 13th century.
6) Pakistan successfully conducts test flight of Shaheen-III
- Pakistan’s Army on 9 April 2022 conducted a successful flight test of the surface-to-surface medium-range ballistic missile Shaheen-III.
- It can strike targets up to 2,750 kilometers.
- It is solid-fuelled and equipped with the Post-Separation Altitude Correction (PSAC) system.
- Solid fuel is suited for rapid response capabilities.
- The missile was first tested in March 2015.

7) Palm Sunday: 10 April 2022
- Palm Sunday was observed on 10 April 2022.
- It is the Sunday before Easter that begins the holy week.
- The occasion denotes the arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem.
- As Jesus rode a donkey into the town of Jerusalem, a large crowd gathered and laid palm branches and their cloaks across the road, giving Jesus royal treatment.
- People chant ‘Hosanna – Hosanna’, which means ‘Save us Oh! Lord!
8) World’s largest electric cruise ship makes maiden voyage in China
- The world’s largest electric cruise ship, the Yangtze River Three Gorges 1 completed its maiden voyage out in China, in March 2022.
- The 100 meters long, zero-emissions ship can haul up to 1,300 passengers at a time and is powered by batteries totaling 7,500 kWh, equivalent to over 100 EVs.
- The ship was developed by China Yangtze Power, a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corp.
9) National Safe Motherhood Day: 11 April
- National Safe Motherhood Day is observed on April 11 every year.
- It promotes awareness about the importance of having proper access for pregnant women to healthcare.
- The campaign was launched by the White Ribbon Alliance (WRAI).
- India was once considered one of the world’s most dangerous countries to give birth as it contributed to 15% of all maternal deaths globally.
10) Imran Khan loses no-confidence motion, ousted as Pakistan PM
- Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan-led government was ousted from power on 9. April 2022 after he failed the no-confidence motion moved against him by the opposition.
- He served as the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan since 2018.
- He is also a former cricketer.
- Khan scored 3,807 runs and took 362 wickets in Test cricket and was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
11) Sarhul festival celebrated in Jharkhand
- Sarhul festival, the most popular tribal celebration across the Jharkhand region, was celebrated on 4 April 2022.
- It is celebrated by the tribal communities of the local Sarna religion, most notably by the Munda, Ho, and Oraon tribes.
- It is celebrated at the beginning of spring every year in the first month of the Hindu calendar, on the third day of the moon or the fortnight of ‘Chaitra’
12) SEBI unveils ‘Manthan’ ideathon to promote innovation
- SEBI has launched the ideathon ‘Manthan!
- It is a six-week-long ideathon being organized by SEBI in association with BSE, NSE, and more.
- It will facilitate the creation of a pool of ideas and innovative solutions revolving around the securities market.
- Interactive knowledge-sharing sessions will be organized for registered participants to facilitate the submission of innovative ideas.
13) World Homoeopathy Day: 10 April
- World Homeopathy Day is celebrated each year on April 10 to pay tribute to homeopathy and its contribution to the world of medicine.
- The day is observed on the occasion of the birth anniversary of German physician Dr Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy.
- Homeopathy was introduced in India approximately two centuries ago.
