1) India releases first edition of Dogri version of Indian Constitution

  • Union Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju released the first edition of the Dogri version of the Constitution of India on 9 April 2023.
  • On 28th March 2023, the Ministry of External Affairs had organized a seminar on “Seven Decades of the Constitution of India” in coordination with the Parliamentary Research & Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE).

3) PM Modi launches International Big Cats Alliance to save tiger species

  • PM Narendra Modi launched the International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA) on 9 April 2023 to save 7 big cat species.
  • The alliance will work to conserve the world’s seven major big cats, including tiger, lion, leopard, snow leopard, puma, jaguar, and cheetah.
  • Under the alliance, the member countries will share their experiences and lay emphasis on research, training, and capacity building.

 

4) UAE to launch DEWA’S SAT-2 6U nanosatellite in April 2023

  • United Arab Emirates’s Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will launch its second nanosatellite to enable remote sensing applications in April 2023.
  • The SAT-2 6U nanosatellite will be launched by a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
  • The new satellite features a high-resolution camera (4.7 meters) that will be used for Earth observation missions.

 

5) Priyanshu Rajawat wins Orleans Masters 2023 men’s singles title

  • Indian men’s singles badminton player Priyanshu Rajawat clinched his first-ever tour title, beating Magnus Johannesen of Denmark in the final of the Orleans Masters 2023 in France on 9 April 2023.
  • This is the first Badminton World Federation (BWF) Super 300 title for Rajawat who was also the youngest team member of the Indian badminton team that won the historic 2022 Thomas Cup in Bangkok.

 

6) World Homoeopathy Day: 10 April

  • World Homoeopathy Day is observed every year on 10 April to pay tribute to the founder and father of the Homeopathy system of medicine Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann.
  • The day aims to spread knowledge about Homeopathic medicine in public health.
  • World Homeopathy Week is celebrated annually from 10 April to 16 April.
  • The theme of 2023 is “One Health, One Family”.

 

7)  India, US forces carry out wargames to support aircraft operations

  • The Special Forces of the US and India are carrying out wargames with a focus on supporting fighter aircraft operations in forward areas from 9 April 2023.
  • The wargames are being carried out at Special Forces training centres in India.
  • It is also going to go to France with its most potent Rafale fighter jets for multilateral exercise Orion 2023.

 

8) PM Narendra Modi visits Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka

  • PM Narendra Modi visited the Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka on 9 April 2023.
  • He also released a commemorative coin on completing 50 years of ‘Project Tiger’.
  • He also visited the Theppakadu Elephant camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu where he met Bomman and Bellie, the stars of the Oscar award-winning documentary “The Elephant Whisperers.”

 

9)  David Warner becomes fastest to score 6000 runs in IPL

  • Delhi Capitals captain David Warner on 8 April 2023 became the fastest batsman to reach the 6000-run mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during a match against Rajasthan Royals at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
  • He is now only the third batter after Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan to score more than 6000 runs.
  • He donned the Orange Cap on three occasions, in IPL 2015, 2017, and 2019.

 

10)  J-K LG Manoj Sinha inaugurates Tulip Garden in Jammu

  • Lieutenant governor (LG) Manoj Sinha on 9 April 2023, inaugurated a Tulip Garden in Jammu at Ramban’s Hill Resort of Sanasar.
  • The LG’s administration is developing 75 new destinations for fulfilling the aspirations of the people.
  • The governement informed that after two years the Tulip bulbs will no more be imported from Holland as they will be grown in Jammu & Kashmir only.

 

11) U.S. Navy deploys nuclear submarine in Middle East region

  • The U.S. Navy has deployed a guided-missile submarine capable of carrying up to 154 Tomahawk missiles to the Middle East, following recent tensions with Iran.
  • The guided-missile submarine USS Florida (SSGN 728) transits the Suez Canal in Egypt in support of the Bahrain-based U.S. Fifth Fleet.
  • Tomahawk cruise missiles launched from ships or submarines can hit targets up to 2,500 kilometers.
