1) Know About: National Crime Records Bureau
- National Crime Records Bureau or NCRB is responsible for collecting and analyzing crime data as defined by the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Special and Local Laws (SLL).
- It is a part of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
- It was founded on 11 March 1986 and is headquartered in New Delhi.
- Its mission is to empower Indian Police with information technology and criminal Intelligence.
2) RBI to auction Govt Securities worth €33,000 crore on 2 September
- RBI will be auctioning four dated government securities worth 33,000 crore on September 2.
- Both competitive and non-competitive bids for the auction will be submitted in electronic format on RBI’s core banking solution; E-Kuber system.
- RBI commenced its operations on 1 April 1935 in accordance with the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.
- RBI was nationalised on 1 January 1949.

3) International Whale Shark Day: 30 August
- International Whale Shark Day is observed on 30 August every year.
- It is celebrated to spread awareness about the importance of whale sharks and their conservation.
- The day was started in 2008, at the International Whale Shark Conference in Isla Holbox.
- On the occasion, Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) is launching ‘save the whale shark campaign’ in Karnataka, Kerala, and Lakshadweep.
4) EAM S Jaishankar to embark on 3-day visit to UAE on 31 August 2022
- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will be visiting the United Arab Emirates from 31 August 2022.
- He will be visiting for co-chairing the 14th India-UAE Joint Commission Meeting and the third India-UAE Strategic Dialogue with Foreign Minister of the UAE Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
- During his three-day visit, Dr. Jaishankar will also meet other dignitaries of the UAE.
5) Telangana Al Mission’s 4 startups to represent India at G20 DIN
- The Telangana Al Mission (T-AIM) has revealed that four of its startups have been selected by MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) to represent India at the G20 Digital Innovation Network (DIN).
- T-AIM is an initiative of the state Government supported by NASSCOM.
- The four startups – Arficus, Edubuk, Eunimart, and MayaMD are supported by Revv Up programme.
6) Gautam Adani becomes 3rd richest person in world
- Gautam Adani has now become the world’s third-richest person.
- It’s the first time an Asian has broken into the top-3 of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with a net worth of $137.4 billion.
- He is now just behind Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos in the global ranking.
- Tesla CEO Elon Musk has a net worth of $251 billion, while Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has a total worth of $153 billion.

8) NHPC inks MoU with PTC India Limited
- NHPC Ltd on 30 August 2022 signed an MoU with PTC India Ltd for the sale of power to be generated from the upcoming West Seti and Seti River-6 hydropower projects in Nepal.
- As per the MoU, PTC shall purchase the Contracted Capacity of these projects from NHPC for onward sale in India and the neighbouring countries.

9) VAR technology to make debut in FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India
- Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology will be used for the first time at a FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, to be held in India in October 2022.
- The VAR technology supports the decision-making process of the referee in game-changing situations.
- It will be the third FIFA women’s tournament to utilise VAR following the U-20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022 & the Women’s World Cup France 2019.
10) Indian Railways set up ‘Meghdoot’ machines at Mumbai stations
- Indian Railways have set up ‘Meghdoot’ machines at Dadar, Thane and other stations of the Mumbai Division.
- These unique ‘Meghdoot’ machines use innovative technology to convert water vapour in the air into potable water.
- The contract for setting up these ‘Meghdoot’ machines for a period of 5 years has been awarded to Maithri Aquatech Pvt Ltd.
11) Noted agri economist Abhijit Sen passes away
- Abhijit Sen, India’s noted agriculture economist and former member of the erstwhile Planning Commission, passed away on 29 August 2022.
- He was a strong advocate of the public distribution system of food grains and a distinguished rural economy expert.
- Between 2004 and 2014, Sen served as a member of the Planning Commission.
- He was also awarded the Padma Bhushan for public service in 2010.
12) Reliance Industries to build world’s largest carbon fibre plants
- Reliance Industries will set up India’s first and one of the world’s largest carbon fibre plants in Hazira, Gujarat
- The plant will have a capacity of 20,000 million metric tonnes per annum.
- The first phase of the plant will be completed in 2025.
- Carbon fibre is a lightweight material with Ambani
13) Nagesh Singh appointed as India’s ambassador to Thailand
- Nagesh Singh, an Indian Foreign Service officer of the 1995 batch, has been appointed as India’s next ambassador to Thailand.
- Singh will replace the incumbent ambassador Suchitra Durai.
- Nagesh Singh is presently working as a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs.
- In August 2022, Vikram K. Doraiswami was also appointed as India’s new High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
